Community Services Facility

The MADCOW project was a large-scale refurbishment transforming the existing structure into a modern, service-focused facility. The community centre is designed to support individuals experiencing homelessness through access to essential services, care, and connection. The brief called for a highly functional, secure, and inclusive building that supports daily operations while maintaining dignity, privacy, and accessibility.

The facility integrates medical support, administrative spaces, food services, and community areas within a single, well-considered layout. Digital access control is provided throughout the building, supported by an internal elevator to ensure safe and efficient movement for staff, volunteers, and visitors.

Internally, the project includes twelve office spaces for service providers, a dedicated medical treatment room, and a comprehensive range of support amenities. These include accessible bathroom facilities, shower amenities for guests, laundry and drying rooms, secure locker facilities, and multiple storage areas to support day-to-day operations.

Food services play a central role within the facility, with two commercial kitchens, two cafés, and additional kitchenettes supporting both public-facing and community-focused programs. Recreational and multipurpose spaces provide flexibility for meetings, group activities, and evolving service requirements.

This project reflects a strong focus on practical design, compliance, and long-term usability, delivering a facility that supports meaningful community outcomes while meeting the operational demands of a high-use environment.
