Architectural Excellence with a Commitment to Sustainable Living

This architecturally ambitious and environmentally conscious residence in regional Victoria is a showcase of thoughtful design and sustainable living. The project was centred around retaining and restoring the original weatherboard cottage on the property — bringing it back to life with carefully selected materials including spotted gum flooring and a new bullnose verandah, echoing the home’s heritage charm.

The newly constructed extension complements the original dwelling with an expansive 440sqm layout (inclusive of a generous 60sqm terrace), delivering
contemporary luxury with a strong emphasis on passive solar performance and environmental efficiency.

A blend of natural materials, functional zoning, and generous volumes create a warm, connected home — flooded with light through Velux skylights, and floor-to-ceiling commercial-grade double glazing. The project reflects our clients’ desire for a modern lifestyle anchored by sustainability, comfort and architectural integrity.

Key features of Panorama.

Restored Original Cottage
At the heart of this project is the beautifully restored original cottage. Featuring spotted gum timber flooring and a new bullnose verandah, the structure retains its authentic charm while connecting seamlessly to the contemporary new addition.

Sustainable Design & Materials
Every aspect of this home was designed with long-term sustainability in mind. It includes eco-friendly Kobe board cladding, a complete solar and battery power system, and three 50,000-litre rainwater tanks. The home is built on a suspended concrete slab with underfloor insulation, paired with burnished concrete floors and hydronic underfloor heating for optimal energy performance.

Light-Filled Living Spaces
A strong architectural emphasis on light and space is seen in the expansive windows, Velux skylights (four in the hallway and two in the kitchen), and commercial-grade double-glazed windows and doors throughout. The raked plywood ceiling in the open-plan living area draws northern light deep into the home, enhancing both comfort and efficiency.

Custom Kitchen & Joinery
The heart of the home is a thoughtfully designed kitchen, featuring expansive custom joinery, dual ovens, black glass splash backs, and custom stone bench tops. A walk-through butler’s pantry with ample prep space completes the culinary zone. Each bedroom includes fully integrated custom joinery, built-in robes, and study desks to support functional, flexible living.

Architectural Detailing
Bold architectural features define the home’s exterior, including an 8-metre curved steel feature and sleek black Interlock 25 cladding. The outdoor 60sqm polished concrete terrace, built on a cantilevered slab, extends the living space outward with uninterrupted views across the Lockwood landscape.
